The Love Letters Project is a museum-wide installation — linked to a hotline — that invites visitors to explore an intimate/playful relationship with the art. These "Love Letters" are personal ads written from the perspective of different art pieces. The letters, printed on shapes and positioned near specific works, can be read and responded to by calling a hotline number and leaving phone messages for the art. The project initiated by the Office of Queer Affairs (OoQA) in the Van Abbemuseum was inspired by queer personal ads from the 80s and 90s.
Love Letters runs concurrently with the museum-wide exhibition Delinking and Relinking which lasts from 2021 through 2025.
My role was in concept brainstorming, development, and project management as a member of the Office of Queer Affairs, and as a coordinator hired by the Van Abbemuseum.
